How do I customise a Channel’s language and translation settings?
To configure the translation settings:
-
Go to “Access management” on the menu, then go to “Channels”
-
Select the Channel you wish to manage
-
Click on the “Translation & language” tab located half way down the page
-
Channels will by default use the translation setting selected at Global level. You can change the default setting of the particular Channel by clicking the field and selecting the desired translation setting. More information on the translation settings can be found here: Overview of translation options
-
Below the Channel translation setting, you will see a list of possible languages offered by SpeakUp.
-
-
Under the column “Enable language,” select the languages you wish to allow your Reporters to write in - English is by default always enabled.
-
Under the column “Enable translation to English” if you untick the box for the respective language, you will disable the translation of the messages to and from English to be processed by our third party Translation Agencies. Please note that messages will always be translated to English when you have the setting machine translation. In the example below, messages in Arabic will not be translated by our agencies:

Remember to click the button “Save languages” after changing the languages.
For some languages, machine translation is not available, and only human translation; for some others, AI speech-to-text is not possible. We will keep exploring solutions to offer for more options. The channel page described above will always have an up-to-date overview.
