About Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security feature that helps protect your SpeakUp account. When MFA is enabled, you must complete two steps to sign in.

You enter your email address and password, and then you enter a one-time code from an authentication app on your phone. This reduces the risk of unauthorised access to sensitive information.

Why does this matter?

SpeakUp contains sensitive reports and data. MFA helps protect your account and strengthens security.

Who can enable or disable MFA?

Each user can enable or disable MFA for their own account in their profile settings. Once MFA is enabled, the authentication app is required every time the user signs in.

Administrators can enable or disable MFA for all users in the organisation. If MFA is enabled by an administrator, individual users cannot turn it off themselves.

Important to know before enabling MFA

You must have ongoing access to your authentication app to sign in.

If your authentication app is removed, reset, or no longer linked to your SpeakUp account, you will not be able to sign in until MFA is reset.

Your administrator can help reset MFA if needed.

If MFA is enforced at the system level, only administrators can disable it, and it will be re-enabled at the user’s next sign-in.
