Can Sienna Insights read the documents on an Issue?
When you ask Sienna about a specific Issue, it can read the documents on the Issue and its Tasks, the attachments the Reporter sent with their messages, and emails saved to the Issue. Sienna reads a document only when your question depends on it.
What Sienna can read:
- PDF, Word, PowerPoint and plain text files
- Excel and CSV files, read sheet by sheet as tables
- Outlook emails (.msg and .eml), including the sender, recipients, date and subject, and the files attached to the email
- Images, scans and photos. Sienna reads the text in a scanned page and describes what a picture shows, such as a photo or a chart.
Ask about a case as you normally would. Open the Issue, or give Sienna its number, and ask your question. For example:
- "What does the witness statement say about the meeting on 12 March?"
- "Do any of the documents mention the supplier's name?"
- "Build a timeline of this case, including what the documents say."
Long documents are not read from start to finish. Sienna searches the document first and reads the parts it needs. If Sienna could not read a document, or read only part of one, it tells you in its answer.
- Sienna reads documents one Issue at a time. It cannot search documents across many Issues, for example "Which cases have an invoice from this supplier?".
- Sienna can only read documents and attachments that you have permission to access.
- A document uploaded a moment ago may not be ready yet. If Sienna says it could not read it, ask again later.
- Password-protected and damaged files cannot be read. Audio and video files are not read.
- Sienna reads documents in their original language.
Sienna can make mistakes, especially with handwriting and poor-quality scans. Check the document itself before you rely on an answer.
