How does translation work?
For Text Messages
When a reporter leaves a text message via Web/App in a language other than English, depending on your translation options, the text message will be translated into English by machine, or a trusted translator. Then this message will be available to you in both the reporter’s chosen language and English. You can choose to reply in the reporter’s chosen language or English.
-
If you respond in a reporter’s chosen language, your reply will be sent directly to the reporter without any translation.
-
If you respond in English, your reply will be translated into the reporter’s chosen language by machine, or a trusted translator, depending on your choice. After that, the translated message will be sent to the reporter. The reporter will also be able to check your original reply in English.
When reporter leaves a text message via Web/App in English, the text message will be directly sent to you without any intervention. You can then respond in English, and your reply will immediately be available for the reporter.
For Voice Messages
When a reporter leaves a voice message via Phone/App in a language other than English, it will be transcribed and/or translated into English by machine or a trusted translator, depending on your system settings of translation options and AI speech-to-text transcription. This message will then be available to you in a text format and/or voice file in reporter’s chosen language and/or English, depending on whether your system has ‘Receive voice file’ option enabled. You can choose to reply in reporter’s chosen language or English via a text format.

If a reporter leaves a message in a language other than English and it's processed by machine, it will always be automatically translated into English, even if the 'Enable translation to English' setting for that language is disabled.

If a voice message is processed by machine and the reporter approves its transcription in the App, you won't receive the voice file even if 'Receive voice file' is enabled in your Channel.
